Periodontics

Set of therapeutic procedures in the treatment of the periodontal diseases in order to prevent the loss of stability and consequential teeth loss.

Periodontal disease  is an inflammatory process characterized by very red and swollen gums.

Gingivitis is an inflammatory process of the gums whose cause is dental plaque and piled up bacteria. This process can escalate to a very serious level, when the inflammatory process spreads to the periodontal and alveolar bone which leads to the teeth loss.

Periodontitis is one of the causer for the loss of the connective tissue, alveolar bone resorption and the occurrence of periodontal pockets, which can lead to teeth loss and thus periodontisis is the most common causer for teeth loss amongst adults.
